How Capco enhanced Arden insurance services’ core system performance

INTRODUCTION

Arden Insurance Services is a small to mid-sized managing general agency (MGA) focusing on commercial property insurance underwritten by their insurer partners. Arden continues to experience double-digit growth, and their current IT environment was not in alignment with their growth expectations.

The core challenge facing Arden was uncertainty in evaluating their current IT environment, current application development plans, and their roadmap for the future. Other critical issues for Arden included getting their core agency and rating systems to work efficiently, improving system performance, and the need for direct billing.

Arden continues to experience double-digit growth, and their current IT environment was not in alignment with their growth expectations. Arden needed a partner with in-depth insurance and technology experience to address these challenges and ensure they could continue to grow their business.

HOW WE DID IT

Capco was engaged in providing management consulting for the following areas within Arden:

  • Overall IT – analyzed the current IT environment and provided recommendations to enable optimal growth over time
  • Core system evaluation – assessed how Arden could make more efficient use of the system including identifying current underutilized capabilities
  • Roadmap planning – Provide a future roadmap that accounts for their current growth trajectory

WHAT WE DELIVERED

Capco worked closely with Arden’s COO and their existing service providers, promoting collaboration throughout the ecosystem. In three months, Capco:

  • Migrated Arden’s entire operation to Microsoft Azure
  • Selected and procured a new IT service provider, replacing a well-regarded provider that was transitioning out of Arden's industry
  • Made key recommendations to improve the IT infrastructure with the new provider
  • Dramatically improved Arden’s core system performance working closely with Arden’s existing vendors
  • Discovered that Arden’s existing policy administration vendor could meet their direct bill needs
  • Connections were made to enable electronic payments, which enhanced Arden’s relationship with their clients
  • Made critical recommendations to Arden for future improvements to the underwriting process with a key insurtech provider
